Drawing from a variety of imagery, concepts, and memories acquired through life in between geographical and cultural spaces I create a new reality. I draw from lived experiences growing up both in the Southwestern United States and Mexico City to create a visual language unique to myself in which I construct spaces that address topics such as immigration, politics, gender roles, and the balance between past traditions and a creation of new ways of expressing who we are in contemporary culture. Using subject matter that is particular to my upbringing, I form a voice within the narrative of Mexican American visual culture that is usually overlooked in the larger conversation.
